New Finishes!

Dear Customer,

As you may or may not know, the vast majority of plywood used in the UK and Europe originates from Russia. Here at Rawside we made a conscious decision that we would not buy conflict wood and therefore have ceased buying plywood from Russia for the foreseeable future. Whilst it is possible to obtain plywood from some other European Countries, availability and pricing makes this supply route prohibitive.

Given that we manufactured many of our products using plywood, we have worked quickly and efficiently with our supply chain to find alternative products. These alternatives not only offer the material integrity of plywood, but also provide an equally sustainable solution that could not in any way be considered conflict material.

While there is a certain sadness that we can no longer offer plywood, we’re really excited about our new range of finishes and options. We have increased our range of colours and timber finishes across all price bands, sourced some fantastic new sheet material products, and increased stock holding. We really feel that the new options offer an even wider range than before to suit all tastes and budgets.

Our new sheet materials come from 100% recovered wood and, where relevant, it meets the stringent environmental emission requirements set by Carb 2 Compliancy. We also continue with our core commitment to use waste material for re-use, new products, and the heating of our factory.

As we move closer and closer to moving our new purpose-built factory near the beautiful South Downs National Park (only 10-weeks away!), we are looking forward to being able to increase our stock holdings of raw materials, doubling our manufacturing capacity and reducing our lead times. The new facility will also allow us to bring more services in-house and develop new products and finishes.

In addition to the above news, for the foreseeable future we are donating a pound for every product sold to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
